I started Shelterfy because every other housing program I have looked at stops one step short of the thing that actually changes a life: ownership. Subsidy keeps you housed. Charity keeps you fed. Neither of those gives you a stake. Without a stake, you are always a guest in your own life.

I spent almost three years incarcerated, from July 2022 to April 2025. I lost the apartment. I lost the income. I lost most of what I had built. When I came home, I had to rebuild from the studs, and the rebuild was harder than it looked.

The hardest part wasn't the work itself. It was humbling myself enough to do the work that was actually in front of me, instead of the work I wished I was already doing. I had real financial pressure. I needed part-time income while I built the bigger thing in my head. I eventually took a job at a restaurant, and I am grateful for it. That season taught me something the spreadsheets never could: there is no shortcut around showing up, and there is dignity in the showing up itself.

While the bills got paid, the longer project kept moving. I had to keep teaching myself every system I would need to build the platform I could see in my head: housing, identity, ledger, finance, infrastructure, AI orchestration, and how each one actually works under the surface. That work has not stopped, and it is not going to.

The other rebuild was the one inside me. I had to keep showing up for the personal development that holds the rest of it together. Part of that was choosing sobriety, and recommitting to it every day. My sobriety birthday is July 4th, and as of this writing I am closing in on four years clean. Independence Day, in more than one sense.

The path from instability to ownership exists. It is just buried under paperwork, hidden behind credit scores, and gated by people who have never had to walk it themselves. Shelterfy is my answer to that: a platform that takes the same dollars already flowing through housing programs, employers, and corporate giving, and converts them into credit you control, skills you carry, and a stake you actually own.

I run a parent platform called Biz Dev App, an operating system for the AI economy that powers dozens of brands across housing, energy, construction, voice, AI, and finance. Shelterfy sits inside that operating system, sharing the same identity layer, ledger, and orchestration engine, while running on its own brand for the people it is built for. I have built it this way on purpose: Shelterfy is for residents, partners, and operators, not for a tech company trying to extract value from them.

I am not the only person on this team, and I am not the smartest person in every room I walk into. But I have lived the journey Shelterfy describes. From a stable home, through losing one, through rebuilding one, toward owning one. That lived experience is the design specification. Every decision in this platform answers a question I had to ask myself, and the answer is the one I wish someone had handed me.
